Weekend in Mallorca | What to do

THIS BLOG IS NOT RUNNING ANYMORE.

If you are travelling to Mallorca for the first time, you might want to get a little overwhelmed by all its attractions. The Mediterranean island cannot by compared to Spain. Here is my complete guide on what are the things that you can not miss during your short stay.

The biggest attention of the city goes to the Cathedral, a huge gothic cathedral created in the 13th century. I recommend you to see it at night, the lightning is beautiful. Unfortunately, it is quite far from the city center. Keep that in mind when you plan your travel.

The Palma city center has a lot of things to offer from luxurious boutiques to historical buildings. You should definitely come across the main square Placa Espana, the greatest street La Rambla and two other important squares Placa Juan Carlos and Placa Mayor. Do not be afraid to get a little bit lost in the small streets, this is where the adventure and local life begins.

If you want to taste (and trust me you want) local cuisine tapas, ensaimadas, chorizos, paellas then definitely go to Santa Catalina. It is a small part of the capital city with a huge number of small restaurants from Latino America, Europe and Asia. You can find a street full of restaurants for affordable prices and, what more, there is also a market with fresh fruits and vegetables harvested in Mallorca.

Remember, most of the beauty is in the Capital city. However, you can find more in the closest area as well. If you dream about luxurious yachts and restaurants, go to Puerto Portals, a little port 15minutes away from Palma. It also has one of the nicest beaches on the island.

For those who like crazy parties, I suggest visiting Magaluf. A famous party city about 20 minutes from Palma. Be carefull when going, I suggest always staying there with a friend.

My ultimate favourite place in the whole island is Valdemossa. If you only come for a weekend and plan to take only one trip outside of the capital, then definitely go see Valdemossa. It’s a small village located in the mountains in the northern part of the island.
